Year 1 - 2014/15 - Miss Higgins
2015 has already been such a busy time in year 1. Below are some pictures of some of the wonderful learning experiences we have had.
This half term our topic has been all about castles. We have learnt so much about them. Below are some pictures of some of our work linked to think topic.
We used cardboard boxes to construct our castles and made sure we included plenty of castle features. Then we painted our castles. It was great fun!
We also looked at the artist Paul Klee. He painted a picture called 'Castles and Sun' and below you can see our own examples.
Here is some of our writing about castles. We have remembered lots of interesting facts!
This term we have also been looking at 3D shapes. We used these 3D shapes to build some more castles.
Here's a picture of Mikey making a cuboid shape. He made it by making lots of cubes and putting them together. He plans to turn it into a 'battering ram' for our castle display!
Here are some pictures of our recent work on money. We were able to choose 3 different amounts and then we created a number sentence.
Here are some pictures of our work on weighing and measuring. We used non-standard units of measure to weigh different objects around the classroom.
