OMeet our team...

Mr West

Mr West
Headteacher

Before he became a teacher Mr West was an engineer.  "Being a teacher is a dream come true, but is actually a lot harder than my previous job" he says.  "So I always keep my old tools handy just in case things don't work out".

Mrs Spearman
Deputy Headteacher & SENCO

Mrs Spearman joined the team at Potter Street a few years ago, and has never looked back.  Mr West is curious to know how she got her name though. Is he a bit nervous of his new deputy perhaps?

Mrs Beesley
Teacher

Her rainbow is not just a figment of the artist's imagination; our Mrs Beesley turns rain to shine where ever she goes.  "It is a bit of nusiance sometimes though" she smiles wrly, "just a small halo would have done - and be easier to fit through the staff room door".

Mr Broad

Mr Broad
Teaching Assistant

Mr Broad has a very busy day at school.  It all starts at 8am, when he wakes himself up at Breakfast Club.  "A bowl of Shreddies gets me through phonics in KS1, and by lunchtime I'm ready for football" he says.  But really it's just a warm-up for some more sport after school: "Having wheels instead of feet certainly helps me keep moving" he adds.

Mr Brown Snr.
Site Manager

You've probably never wondered why you're not locked out of school every morning - but there is a reason.  It's Mr Brown's job to rise very early every day, and make sure the school is warm, safe and, most importantly, open!  So does he go back to bed after unlocking all those gates and doors?  You ask him....

Mr Brown Jnr.
Cleaner

"I'm sure I've been here before" says Mr Brown Jnr, "...can't think when though."  Thanks for coming back all these years later and help keep our school looking good!

Miss Brown

It's hard to think of Potter Street's school office without Miss Brown - she's so busy around our school, making sure everyone's doing what they should be doing.  Keep going Miss Brown, otherwise we'll stop!

Miss Delanbanque
Assistant Cook

All our Breakfast Clubbers know Miss Delanbanque well as she's long helped our early risers get their toast and cornflakes.  But now she's blazing a trail in the kitchen, helping feed hundreds of children at lunchtime every day!

Mr Doyles
Teacher

The story of how Mr Doyles came to be at Potter Street is shrouded in mystery.  Some say they saw a blinding shaft of light strike the Y3 classroom, whilst others claim they heard a chorus of a thousand voices singing 'ahhhhh...', and there he was.  I saw how it really happened though: he just came in his van.

Miss Etheridge
Teaching Assistant

Miss Etheridge loves to work with the younger children in the school, and has notched up several years nursery and Foundation Stage experience.  "I'm not the tallest of people" she says, "so communication is no problem at all in Reception".

Mrs Hamilton
Teaching Assistant

Mrs Hamilton works closely with our older children, including Y6 pupils doing their exams.  "I really enjoy helping them learn from the experience; it's amazing how they handle it."  Thanks for your help, Mrs Hamilton - you certainly deserve that golden aura!

Ms Huckle knows us so well, having done so many different roles around our school.  Surely best of all though is being a Potter Street mum!

Ms Jones
Teaching Assistant

It hasn't taken Ms Jones long at all to settle in to Potter Street - she's detemined to make sure children's work is neat and tidy on the page.  You'd better hang that coat up as well please!

Mrs Kimble
Teaching Assistant

Mrs Kimble is part of our support team for KS1 children.  She's also an expert in speech and language, and enjoys helping children with this as they start school.  Oh yes, not to mention a hard-working, busy Potter Street mum as well!

Mrs Lawley
Teaching Assistant

Mrs Lawley has so far evaded all attempts to capture her image with our special camera. The challenge is still on - a reward for anyone handing in a picture of the longest-standing, most loyal member of staff Potter Street has ever seen.

Ms Livesey
Cleaner

Ever wonder why all those muddy footprints and bits of paper dissappear each night?  Ms Livesey is there right at the start and end of every day to make sure our school is spotless.  Please do your bit to help her!

Mr McCabe
Teacher

Mr McCabe is rumoured to have the most incredible classroom in the whole school, with air-conditioning, an amazing screen, and robots, and fun stuff, and children, and everything!  "It's not easy being the coolest teacher in Harlow, if not the whole of Essex" he quips, "so I needed a classroom to match".

Miss Malloy

Mrs Navia
Teacher

Rumour has it that Mrs Navia only popped into Potter Street one afternoon to ask directions back to the M11.  "Let me show you around." said Mr West.  And the rest is history (which is strange, because she's actually in charge of maths).

Ms Newman
Teaching Assistatnt

If you're feeling curious one day, ask Ms Newman what she did in her previous job - you may be very surprised.  When she mentions elves and pot plants, believe it or not, she's actually telling the truth.  (If she mentions international travel and espionage though, she's making it up.)

Mrs Parkyns
Learning Mentor

Question:  Where's the nicest place in Potter Street Primary?  Answer: Mrs Parkyns' room.  Comfy sofas, lovely pictures - and there's always some extra nibbles hidden away here and there.  Best of all, Mrs Parkyns always has time for a chat, however you're feeling.  I'll be over at ten for coffee and cake, Mrs Parkyns!

Mrs Pope
School Business Manager

"I love my job here" says Mrs Pope, "though sometimes it's important to keep calm and carry on".  When the reception desk is really busy, you mean, Mrs Pope? "No, that's a piece of cake.  It's working with Mr West - that's enough to give anyone butterfiles!"

Mrs Porter
Teaching Assistant

Mrs Porter is very experienced with helping children from all over our school.  As well as being a very busy mum of three, she's our Mental Health Champion, and a very good listener.

Mrs Wiggle is enjoying helping children learn in Y1 this year.  Not a lot of people know this, but she used to work at the Royal Gunpowder Mills.  "We weren't allowed to smoke there, for obvious reasons" she advises, "and it's just the same here at Potter Street.  But I don't smoke at all, so there's no problem".  Thanks for the advice, Mrs Wiggle.
